9/2007---15 MARET Volunteers set up a staging area and prepared to receive evacuated animals during a two day mock evacuation drill. Members erected canopies, set up equipment and ended with a critique and brainstorm session. Volunteers also met with Dr. Lynne Chadwick, DVM & Dr. Bob Friedman, DVM, to determine necessary veterinary needs and concerns. MARET works in conjuction with veterinarians to ensure that all evacuated and housed animals receive necessary medical attention.
4/2008 - 4 MARET members attended the Wyoming Veterinary Conference in Laramie, WY. MARET was invited by the State Veterinarian to come to the conference, set up a staging area and speak to Wyoming Veterinarians about emergency evacuations and the Veterinarians role during disasters.
7/2008 - Jim Boller and Kurt Kruikshank of Code 3 Associates were in Cody and instructed MARET members on Large Animal Rope Rescue Training. This 16 hour class is Certified Large Animal Rescue Training through University of Missouri and is Code 3 Associates BULL (Big Useful Livestock Lessons) training. Jim and Kurt are showing volunteers how to build a Z-Drag system for hoisting large animals up hills, ravines and cliffs.
4/2008 - Volunteer Kelly Collins mans a display at Wal-Mart for Wal-Mart's annual Safety Day. Volunteers set up displays, passed out information and gave general information on filling out registration forms to be kept with their emergency evacuation kit. Pet owners are asked to fill out the registrations prior to an emergency to assist with speedy documentation should an animal need sheltering during an emergency.
MARET members have logged over 6500 hours in training, mock evacuation drills, community awareness information booths, planning meetings, caring for animals in cruelty investigations and participating in the Park County evacuation planning and training sessions.
8/15/09 - MARET put on a free equine nutrition and body scoring seminar to the public. The class was intended to show participants the necessity to use hands on skills to determine the correct body condition of horses. Dr. Bob Friedman, DVM also gave a lecture on proper nutrition and other factors that affect a horse's health, body weight and condition.
